Description
Photographed in Thanksgiving Weekend October 13, 2013 at Halton Hills, Ontario. A Hulin's Carnival Dahlia in The Autumn Rain
Dahlia is a genus of bushy, tuberous, herbaceous perennial plants native to Mexico and Central America. A member of the Asteraceae family of dicotyledonous plants, its garden relatives thus include the sunflower, daisy, chrysanthemum, and zinnia.
Hulin's Carnival Dahlia was introduced in 1954. The 4-inch-wide blooms are white with speckles and splashes of wine purple. Some blooms may be white and some solid wine. Good stems on a 4' bush. Recommended as a cut flower. Should do well in exhibition.
