I took this famous Iwo Jima statue and the symbol of Patriotism during my visit of Washington, DC in 2008. I could not take the shot in the morning and took the sunset shot. It was not the best capture but the feeling of "I was there" was very memorable. This photo was captured from the backside of the statue.
There is a quotation on the memorial: "Uncommon Valor Was A Common Virtue"
