Description
I took this photo at Toronto Polish Festival in September 2012 at Roncesvalles Village. I love the colorful Polish national costumes they are wearing and they are so happy in camera. They looked so natural and photogenic in camera. There are lots of people asking them for pictures. Another interesting fact about this street is this is where the musical movie "Hairspray" was shot for the street scene.
Roncesvalles Village is a diverse, vibrant community, attracting people of all backgrounds. Trendy boutiques, cafes and bookstores live alongside established Polish delicatessens and bookstores. Urban professionals mix and mingle with artists, artisans, musicians and entrepreneurs. On a walk down Roncy (as we locals call it) you'll hear people chatting in English, Polish, French, Tibetan, Spanish, German and Ukrainian. You'll see new parents pushing strollers, as seniors enjoy a quick walk to High Park. Artists and musicians bring vitality and creativity to the neighborhood, sustaining historic cultural venues such as the Revue Cinema, as well as our well-established art scene. On any given night, you can listen to award-winning musicians perform at our live music venues. Many of our restaurants and cafes showcase local painters on their walls, and you will find book readings, writer's circles and more at numerous places on Roncesvalles.
